Description

Amino assays are analytical techniques used to detect, identify, and quantify amino acids and proteins in biological and industrial samples. These assays are crucial in biochemistry, clinical diagnostics, nutrition research, and biotechnology, providing insights into protein content, amino acid composition, and metabolic status of samples.

Principle:
Amino assays rely on chemical reactions between amino acids (or proteins) and specific reagents to produce colorimetric or fluorometric signals measurable by spectrophotometry or fluorometry. Common reagents include ninhydrin, trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS), and o-phthalaldehyde (OPA), which react with amino groups to form detectable colored complexes.

Key Applications:

Clinical diagnostics: Measuring plasma amino acids to monitor metabolic disorders.

Food and nutrition: Determining protein content and amino acid profile in food products.

Pharmaceutical and biotech industries: Protein quantification in drug formulations or fermentation products.

Research laboratories: Studying enzymatic activity, protein purification, and structural biology.

Common methods:

Ninhydrin assay for free amino acids.

Biuret, Lowry, or Bradford assays for total protein quantification.

OPA assay for sensitive detection of primary amines.

Amino assays provide fast, accurate, and cost-effective analysis, making them indispensable in clinical testing, nutritional studies, and quality control.

Packaging Instructions

For Liquid samples, per analysis, measure 5ml
Measure 2grams per analysis for solid samples
Liquid samples should be sent in sample bottles, pet bottles, or any air-tight container.
Solid samples should be sent in zip lock bags, sample bottles, or any air-tight container.
Samples should be labeled legibly with paper tape, marker, or writing pen.
Labels should be short and precise (not more than 3 words).
All samples must be strapped together and secured in a bag prior to transport.
Write the Following on the Bag, or Envelope โ€œAllschoolabs Analysis โ€“ Receiver: Madison, 08163383206โ€ then add the address of whichever collection center you are sending to.
