The Beta-2 Glycoprotein antibody test detects IgM and IgG autoantibodies in serum that target β2GPI, a protein involved in blood clot regulation. These antibodies are mainly associated with Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), an autoimmune condition that increases the risk of abnormal blood clots and recurrent pregnancy loss. The test is used to: Diagnose APS Investigate unexplained thrombosis or pregnancy complications Support management of autoimmune diseases like SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) Positive results suggest an increased clotting risk and must be confirmed with repeat testing after 12 weeks. IgG is more strongly linked to clinical issues than IgM.
